30+ Day Racial Equity Indigenous Peoples Challenge

October 27th- day 27

Thank you for participating in the 30+ Day Racial Equity: Indigenous Peoples Challenge.

Today is Day 27. Here are the reading, watching and listening material for the challenge. Remember you can choose 1 learning experience, or all. It is entirely up to you.

READ: The Mass. Flag Honors The Oppression Of Native Americans. It’s Time To Change It

WATCH: How This Native American Elder Reclaimed Sacred Land in the Bay Area (9:33)

LISTENLeonard Peltier (1970s) – Native American activist Leonard Peltier has spent over 40 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Prosecutors and federal agents manufactured evidence against him (including the so-called “murder weapon”); hid proof of his innocence; presented false testimony obtained through torturous interrogation techniques; ignored court orders; and lied to the jury. People are commonly set free due to a single constitutional violation, but Peltier—innocent and faced with a staggering number of constitutional violations—has yet to receive equal justice. (90 minutes)
